Socks, Connections, Innovation & The Chamber Of The Future!

Good afternoon! Please allow me a few minutes to provide you with an important update on Chamber happenings.

First and foremost, thank you for being a proud member of the Meadowlands Chamber! Together we continue to accomplish much and this note is to share some thoughts about our future with you.

But first I need to ask you if you ever have a problem keeping your feet warm? Crazy question? While the likely answer is no, I can tell you there are many people right here in our area that do have that problem and we are trying to help the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center with a major Sock Drive before the Winter kicks in. Please consider contributing a few pairs of socks to this effort being led by Eydie Shapiro and the Financial Futures Committee here at the Meadowlands Chamber. A special thanks to our friends at Ernst & Young for agreeing to host a sock box in their office! Click here to learn how you can help with sock or cash donation.

While you may be in a giving mode may I also direct you to another effort the Meadowlands Chamber puts forth each year. The Meadowlands Basket Brigade, led by our Contractors & Building Services Committee, helps families in need in our local communities by delivering Thanksgiving baskets.

We are at the tail end of an important Membership Survey which is revealing how important it is for the MC to be the catalyst for building relationships, to help you to make connections and to be a strong advocate on your behalf. That is why we carefully plan our networking and informational events so we can offer access to different audiences while presenting great content. We understand how busy everyone is in their daily lives so we aim to be efficient while always providing a great value. If you have not taken this very brief survey please click here.

Each year at this time we are well into planning for the upcoming year. I am happy to report that in 2019 we will launch a bunch of new initiatives aimed at strengthening the MC’s ability to help you build connections while also providing you with valuable resources. We are very optimistic about the Meadowlands economy. American Dream Meadowlands will open in late Spring of 2019 and will reshape the regional economy. Additional major development projects will also add to the job growth and attraction for companies to relocate to this dynamic part of New Jersey. My management team and our board are positioning the MC to not only retain our leadership role but also grow it. We are in fact thinking about how to be the innovative Chamber of the future. Frankly, I am totally energized by what lies ahead of us and I hope you are too. Together we can accomplish great things!

On Thursday, November 8th, the MC will host its Annual Meeting Luncheon at Glen Ridge Country Club. While we reorganize our board of advisors that day we also talk about the future of the Chamber…and that future is bright! We will reveal new organizational branding, new websites and our thoughts about where the Chamber will venture in the coming years.

We are bringing in Mick Fleming, the recent former CEO of the national Chamber Executive Organization (ACCE) based in Washington DC to share his vast knowledge about Chambers all across the USA and how we stack up. Mick will also share his thoughts about our plans for the future and he will talk about how important it is for your business to engage our organization in a greater way. Click here to register.

On behalf of my team and the entire board of advisors, thank you for being a part of our organization. You are what makes us a great business service organization…one that I am so proud to lead!

Hope to see you at the Annual Meeting!

With pride & admiration,

President & CEO, Meadowlands Regional Chamber
