Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Employee Honored for COVID-19 Work by NJPHA

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and the New Jersey Public Health Association are honoring a key contributor to the COVID-19 response in New Jersey. Kyle Hioki will receive the President’s Award for his efforts in coordinating COVID-19 testing at The College of New Jersey.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center President and CEO, Deborah Visconi said, “Bergen New Bridge has led the way with COVID-19 testing since the onset of the pandemic and we were proud to be able to address the critical need for testing at The College of New Jersey.”

A clinical integration analyst at Bergen New Bridge, Hioki was the onsite coordinator for COVID-19 testing at the college. Under his leadership, Bergen New Bridge conducted 70,999 COVID-19 tests at The College of New Jersey between Jan. 2021 and Dec. 2022. Hioki graduated from The College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in public health and a master’s degree also in public health with a focus on epidemiology and health analytics.

“The work that Kyle did as the on-site coordinator was critical to the success of the testing program and as a result, this award is a well-deserved recognition of his efforts and that of the entire team,” added Visconi.

Hioki will be honored by the New Jersey Public Health Association at its April conference and award ceremony. Hioki follows a long line of President’s Award recipients since the establishment of the award in 1983. Created by John Carlano, a former president and member of the New Jersey Public Health Association, the award recognizes someone who conducted exceptional work in the public health field.

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, rebranded in 2017, is the fourth largest publicly owned hospital in the nation.
