The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in just over a week, with the tournament prepared to host 32 of the world’s best soccer teams. Over the span of the past few months leading up to the tournament, some of the top teams participating have been highlighted on our page. This week, in keeping with that tradition, we will be discussing the Argentine club Club Atlético Boca Juniors. The club is based out of La Boca, a neighborhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The team plays in the Argentine Primera División, which is the highest level of soccer in the country. Since being promoted in 1913, they have played every season since in the league. Boca Juniors, as they are known casually, have won 74 official titles, which is the most by an Argentina-based club. Of their 74 titles, 35 came in the form of Primera División championships.
They have also won 22 major titles, currently third in the world in terms of the number of complete international titles, between Real Madrid and Al Ahly, who will both be competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Boca Juniors aren’t strangers to the tournament either, finishing as the runner-ups in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup.
The club currently sits at second in their group in the Argentine Primera División with a record of 10 wins, three draws and three losses. Their last league title win occurred during the 2022 season.
Boca Juniors currently play their home matches at Estadio Alberto J. Armando, which is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The stadium holds a capacity of 57,200, which is fitting, as Boca Juniors has the most members out of any Argentine club with roughly 315,000. In terms of their fanbase, they boast millions upon millions of fans throughout Argentina and the world.
With Argentina’s recent World Cup win, it is evident how important the sport is to the country and Boca Juniors is among the most widely-known clubs based out of there. As Boca Juniors prepares for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, they will look to complete what they couldn’t in 2007. If they manage to make it all the way to the final match of the tournament, they will find themselves playing at MetLife Stadium.
