2025 FIFA Club World Cup Team Spotlight: Paris Saint-Germain

The next team that will be focused on that is playing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is Paris Saint-Germain. With the tournament almost a month away, the games are approaching faster than ever.

Paris Saint-Germain, commonly referred to as PSG, is a French soccer team that plays in Ligue 1, the highest level of soccer in France. In the division, they are clearly the most dominant team, holding a commanding lead in first place of the standings. The club holds a record of 24 wins, six draws and one loss.

The club is relatively new, being founded in 1970, after the merging of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain. In the short span of time, they have established themselves as one of the division’s premier teams. They currently hold the title for the most consecutive seasons playing at France’s highest level.

PSG is the most popular and most widely supported club in France. Their fandom even goes to other countries, as well. The team plays at Parc de Princes in Paris, France, which holds a capacity of 48,583.

The teams saw success early on, winning the French Cup in 1982 and dominating the 1990’s. After a drought in the 00’s, PSG returned to glory after being bought by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. The acquisition allowed them to purchase stars such as Neymar and Zlatan Ibrahimović.

The club now constantly appear towards the top of the Ligue 1 standings, in addition to winning national cups. They have also become a staple in the UEFA Champions League. 

The team will look to add another trophy to their collection and continue the dominance that they have been displaying as the tournament approaches. PSG are currently among the favorites to win the tournament. They will have a difficult path to the championship game, with many impressive teams in the field, but they are just as much of a threat. If they make it to the championship game, they have the opportunity to achieve greatness at MetLife Stadium.
