Annual Sportscasters Charity Derby Returns to Meadowlands Racetrack

The Meadowlands Racetrack and a group of national and local Sportscasters are teaming up once again for the Annual Sportscasters Charity Derby. The event consists of two harness races to benefit charities selected by each Sportscaster. Four sportscasters will participate in each race on May 12 with the hopes of winning $5,000 for their selected charity. The Racetrack will also donate $1,000 to each Sportscasters’ charity.

Last year’s winners, Maria Marino of Action Network and Rebecca Harlow of MSG Network will return looking to defend their title. Marino selected the American Cancer Society, specifically Making Strides Against Breast Cancer as her charity while Harlow selected the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

Quincy Enunwa, Wally Szczerbiak, Don La Greca, and Marc Malusis will also return to the event looking to dethrone Marino and Harlow. Enunwa, a former New York Jets Wide Receiver turned sports analyst has selected St. Barnabas Health System as his charity of choice. Szczerbiak, also of MSG Network, will be participating on behalf of the Croatian Charitable Foundation. La Greca of 98.7 ESPN and The Michael Kay Show will support the Ronald McDonald House while Malusis of PIX11 and SNY will support Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Sportscaster Charity Derby will also welcome two newcomers in Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post and Keith Irizarry of MLB Network. Both have elected to support Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as their charity of choice.
