Discounted Multi-Ride Ticket Option Returns to NJ Transit by Popular Demand

On Feb. 15, NJ Transit brought its FLEXPASS back after significant acclaim from the public. The ticket option allows riders to purchase 20 one-way tickets at a 15% discount, which can be used throughout a 30-day period. The FLEXPASS offers great value to customers that only need to travel a few times each week.

FLEXPASS tickets are available for bus, rail and light rail and will be available for purchase through the NJ Transit mobile app, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and the ticket offices. The ticket option was first introduced in 2021, as a result of changing commuting patterns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are pleased to bring back FLEXPASS, one of our most popular ticketing options,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “We listened to our customers when they said they wanted more flexible options to match their travel needs, and FLEXPASS provides that flexibility combined with significant savings for commuters.”

A FLEXPASS can be purchased at any time during the month and sales are non-refundable. Customers can also only purchase one FLEXPASS per mode at a time. Once all 20 tickets associated with a customer’s current FLEXPASS have been used or reached the 30-day expiration period.

Once the FLEXPASS is purchased through the NJ Transit mobile app, 20 one-way tickets will be deposited into the customer’s account and can be activated the same way as a typical fare ticket. The ticket option provides a better deal for customers travelling based on hybrid work schedules. After increased demand, NJ Transit decided to bring the option back, to the delight of many.
