Family Promise Honors Community Partners at “Many Roads Lead Home” Gala

Family Promise of Bergen County, the nonprofit dedicated to empowering working families who have become homeless, encourages you to support its annual gala “Many Roads Lead Home”. This fundraising event will be held on Thursday, October 20th at the Edgewood Country Club in River Vale. The evening begins at 6 PM with the cocktail hour, gourmet dinner, silent auction, the very popular wine pull, plus an inspiring program honoring charitable partners and the success of local families.  According to Executive Director Kate Duggan, “This year’s theme highlights the various pathways Family Promise of Bergen County offers to working families as we guide them toward achieving housing stability and self-sufficiency—and the ways our honorees are integral partners in each family’s journey.”

Greater Bergen REALTORS®, REALTORS® Care Foundation will receive the Philanthropic Impact Award for its long time, generous support of Family Promise sheltering and homeless prevention programs, helping to improve the quality of life in the communities where their members live and work.

St. Catharine Church of Glen Rock will receive the Community Impact Award not only for its participation in the congregation-based Family Promise Sheltering Network, but for its support of the Walk-In Dinner Program that addresses food insecurity and for hosting summer Camp Lots-of-Fun for children experiencing homelessness.

The Volunteer Impact Award will go to Harry Ferguson of River Vale who for many years has served and continues to serve as a dedicated volunteer of the Family Promise Sheltering Network, the Walk-In Dinner Program, the Englewood Meal Distribution Program during the pandemic, plus many events and committees.

Family Promise is grateful to have BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) return as the Empowerment Sponsor. “Our partnership with Family Promise helps BD deliver on our commitment to improving community health right here in Bergen County, where our global headquarters has been located for decades,” said Ellen Rafferty, senior manager of Social Investing. “Family Promise knows that having a stable home is essential to empowering families to create better, healthier lives, and they provide the kind of personalized support that helps address the root causes of poverty and homelessness.”
