The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recently acknowledged the work of five Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals for their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care to their patients.
The five hospitals that were recognized are Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, JFK University Medical Center, Ocean University Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center. They were awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence due to their ability to meet accreditation criteria and their ongoing registry reporting. They are the only hospitals in New Jersey to have earned this prestigious honor.

Maiorana, MBA, MSN, R.N., vice president, Cardiovascular Care Transformation Services, Hackensack Meridian Health. “New Jersey residents should rest assured of our outstanding commitment to quality for our patients.”
Hospitals and health systems that are selected to receive this honor must be able to meet a certain criteria, which includes participating in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, NCDR registries and targeted quality improvement campaigns.
In 2023, Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC), JFK University Medical Center (JFKU), Ocean University Medical Center (OUMC) and Riverview Medical Center (RMC) received ACC Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation. JSUMC was also able to receive the network’s first outpatient heart failure accreditation, as well as being one of the first programs in the entire country to earn outpatient recognition.

Hospitals and health systems that receive the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have shown commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care. Hackensack Meridian Health has demonstrated this through comprehensive process improvement, gaining disease and procedure-specific accreditation, displaying professional excellence and building a sense of community.
