On Friday, June 26, Flag Cities will be coming to Riggin Memorial Field in East Rutherford, New Jersey, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event brings the FIFA World Cup fever to the Meadowlands, with live music, vendors, food trucks and viewing parties for two matches from the 2026 FIFA World Cup all scheduled to take place.
The event will be spread out across the field, with vendors selling custom merchandise, as well as food trucks offering good eats to enjoy before and during the games. There are also designated kid’s zones and soccer zones, allowing children to play and test their skills, while enjoying the event’s festivities.
For entertainment, Royal Scam and Easy Honey are slated to perform at the event. Royal Scam, named after Steely Dan’s fifth studio album, is a tribute to the rock band, playing their timeless hits. The group has been performing for over 30 years at sold-out venues, with their next stop being Flag Cities in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Easy Honey is an indie rock band, which was formed in Charleston, South Carolina, during the college days of the group’s founding members. The band has gone from writing songs in academic buildings to performing tours that have taken them across the country.
The two matches being displayed will both be taking place at 8 p.m. featuring Uruguay vs. Spain and Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia. The matches are among some of the most important of the tournament, with much on the line for each team. Group H, which consists of the four teams playing, is one of the only groups remaining in the tournament that does not have any of the four spots in its standings solidified.
Any of the four teams could advance to the knockout stages, with some creating improbable underdog stories if they were able to do so. Spain entered the tournament as one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, but after an improbable draw against Cape Verde and a dominant win over Saudi Arabia, their spot has still not been confirmed, though it is within reach. For Uruguay, one of the most storied nations in FIFA World Cup history, a spot in the round of 32 was heavily predicted, though two draws against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde significantly hindered their chances.
One of the tournament’s best stories is Cape Verde, who entered the tournament as a small nation making their debut in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, after opening the tournament with a 0-0 draw against powerhouse Spain and following with another draw to Uruguay, an epic underdog finish is nearly complete. Cape Verde would guarantee a spot in the knockout stages with a win and could potentially earn a spot with a draw. For Saudi Arabia, their squad has only made it past the group stages once, in 1994, through a total of six appearances in the tournament.
