On Tuesday, July 8, Fluminense and Chelsea will be facing off against one another for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup semifinal. The two teams emerged victorious in their quarterfinals matches and are now just a win away from advancing to the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Fluminense previously played two games at MetLife Stadium for the group stages. Their first match resulted in a 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund, while their second was a 4-2 win against Ulsan HD. The club has never lost in the Meadowlands throughout the tournament and will look to keep it that way.
Chelsea will be a tough matchup for them, however, as they are one of the most dominant teams in the tournament. They advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 2-1 over SE Palmeiras in the quarterfinals. They will now take on Fluminense with the hopes of advancing.
Chelsea are clear favorites to win the match, though, no one team can be ruled out. This will be Fluminense’s third matchup at MetLife Stadium in the span of a few weeks and they can return again if they win against Chelsea. It would take an excellent showing from the club, though they have been rolling throughout this tournament.
At 3 p.m. on July 8, the two clubs will face off to decide who returns to MetLife Stadium for the FIFA Club World Cup final. Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021, though this would be the first win for Fluminense in the tournament. Fluminense were runners up for the most recent FIFA Club World Cup in 2023 and will look to get the job done this year.
