It is already week four of the NFL season in the Meadowlands, as the New York Giants return to MetLife Stadium once again, looking to keep up a promising trend, while the New York Jets wrap up their road trip this week. This Sunday, the Giants will be taking on the Arizona Cardinals, while the Jets face off against the Chicago Bears.
Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Giants, 1 p.m.
After a home victory last week against the Tennessee Titans, the Giants are looking to maintain their undefeated record in the Meadowlands this season. Quarterback Jameis Winston will be leading the team once again, despite the Giants’ recent acquisition of J.J. McCarthy, looking to build on the momentum from last week’s win.
The Giants put on a defensive clinic against the Titans, holding the team to just seven points through four quarters. The Cardinals, though, will pose a challenge for the Giants defense with rookie Jeremiyah Love coming off of the best game of his career thus far. Luckily for the Giants, they also have talented rookie linebacker Arvell Reese who has been stellar to start his career.
The Giants last played the Cardinals in 2023, getting the last laugh in a comeback 31-28 win. This week’s game is expected to be another nail-biter, in what is expected to be a matchup between two evenly-matched teams. In Winston’s second start of the season, he will be trying to find a rhythm and use some of the many talented offensive talents that the Giants have, including running back Cam Skattebo, wide receiver Malik Nabers and tight end Isaiah Likely.
The Giants currently boast a 2-1 record, which puts them in a tie for first place in their division. Given the adversity that the team has had to overcome so early into the season, it serves as a testament to their resiliency. This week, the Giants have the opportunity to continue their success at home and move to a 3-1 record for the first time since the 2022 season.
New York Jets vs. Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.
The Jets will face yet another NFC North opponent this week, taking on the Chicago Bears. The Jets are coming off of their strongest offensive performance of the season last week, as quarterback Geno Smith recorded 321 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. The team will be looking to build off of that dominant showing and take down a Bears squad that is fresh off a primetime win.
In the Jets’ dominant offensive showing last week, Garrett Wilson and rookie Kenyon Sadiq also put up outstanding numbers. Both recorded receiving touchdowns, while Wilson accumulated 107 receiving yards on 10 receptions and Sadiq put up 105 receiving yards on seven receptions, both career-highs for the first round pick.
Last time the teams faced off in 2022, the Jets were able to capture a dominant 31-10 win, though much has changed for both teams over the past four seasons. The Jets will look to even up their record with a win this Sunday, to put them at 2-2 on the season.
