The New York Jets will be playing at MetLife Stadium once again, hosting the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. The New York Giants will be heading into their bye week as the top team in the NFC East standings currently.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. New York Jets, 1 p.m.
The Jets will be facing off against the Raiders on Sunday afternoon in a revenge game of sorts for Jets quarterback Geno Smith, who played for the Raiders last season. Smith has quietly been stringing together a nice season, boasting the sixth highest completion rate and 13th most passing yards in the league. Smith will look to put up another strong showing against his former team.
The Jets will look to build off the performance of rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. who has recorded over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown in both of his two games since coming back from injury. The Jets may also be helped by the potential return of running back Breece Hall, who has missed the team’s last four games. The Raiders have given up 143.6 rushing yards per game so far this season, a promising statistic for a Jets backfield that could feature Hall and Braelon Allen this weekend.
Entering this week, the Raiders currently possess a four-game losing streak after starting off the season with an undefeated 3-0 record. The Jets will look to keep that streak going as they take the field at MetLife Stadium.
Facing a defense that ranks fourth in total yards per game given up, the Jets will look towards their various offensive weapons to propel the team forward. A receiving trio of Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper Jr. and Adonai Mitchell combined with the potential of Breece Hall joining Braelon Allen in the backfield this week gives the Jets offense the potential to have a big game.
New York Giants, Bye Week
The New York Giants do not have a game this week, giving the team an opportunity to reset and prepare for their next game against the Eagles. The Giants enter their bye week on a high note, coming off an overtime win against the Houston Texans on the road.
In J.J. McCarthy’s first start with the Giants, the team’s offense looked solid, as McCarthy threw for 252 yards. Malik Nabers, McCarthy’s top target, recorded 111 receiving yards on seven receptions, continuing his dominant season. Running back Cam Skattebo also put up impressive numbers, rushing for 124 yards, including one that helped secure the win for the Giants.
As the team continues their season without Jaxson Dart, the start of J.J. McCarthy’s tenure has gotten off to a promising start. The John Harbaugh-led team currently sits at first place in the NFC East and will look to keep it that way as they return from their bye week in the coach’s first season.
The Jets will be at MetLife Stadium this week, holding down the fort in the Meadowlands, while the Giants replenish. Facing a Raiders team that has had its struggles over the past few weeks, the Jets will look to pick up their second home win of the season.
