Both the Jets and Giants, who have found themselves with lengthy losing streaks, were searching for their next win this past week. However, neither team was able to walk away victorious, with each team falling by a score separated by a touchdown or less. Despite all of the many challenges that both teams have faced, they will now go into their next week with the same goal as the past week.
Seahawks Defeat Jets 26-21 in 4th Quarter Comeback
Despite all of the struggles that had occurred leading up to their matchup against the Seahawks, the Jets were still slightly favored. This is in large part due to all of the star power that is on the team, which was evident in the team’s bright spots throughout the season. With their playoff hopes hanging in the balance, a win in this game would mean a lot for the team moving forward with the season.
The Jets quickly proved why they were favored going into the game, scoring on their second offensive drive thanks to a Davante Adams touchdown. Immediately after the defense forced a fumble, which the team capitalized on, scoring another touchdown, this time from Isaiah Davis, to make it 14-0 with the end of the first quarter approaching.
The Seahawks responded with a touchdown of their own, but the Jets scored again to make it 21-7. Another fumble forced by the defense gave the Jets great field position and made it seem as though they may coast to a win, however, a pick-six from former NY Jet Leonard Williams put the Seahawks back into the game, while simultaneously taking the Jets’ momentum. The Seahawks tacked on a field goal to make it 21-16 due to a blocked extra point before the half came to an end.
The third quarter started off slow, with the only points scored being a Seahawks field goal to bring them within 2. In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks made the most of their opportunity when they got the ball back, scoring a touchdown to make it 26-21. The Jets had a chance to push down the field and lead a game-winning drive of their own, however it came up short and the Seahawks took the victory.
Giants Fall to Cowboys 27-20 in Thanksgiving Day Matchup
The Giants took on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day, one of the biggest days for football in each NFL regular season. On such a big stage, the Giants would be without their intended starting quarterback, as Tommy DeVito was sidelined with an injury, leading Drew Lock to be the team’s starter instead.
The Giants didn’t let the sudden change stop them, however, as they took a 7-3 lead throughout the first quarter. The Cowboys cut their lead to just a point as they scored another field goal before the first quarter came to a close. On their first play of the next drive, Lock threw an interception, which the Cowboys returned for a touchdown, putting them in the lead.
In the midst of solid defensive performances from both teams, the Giants scored another field goal before the first half ended. With a score of 13-10 at halftime, the Giants still remained very strongly in the game, with the only true downside being the pick-six.
Receiving the ball to start the second half, the Giants had the opportunity to either tie the game or take the lead, however, they did neither and instead ended up fumbling early in the drive. The Cowboys took advantage of this fumble and scored another touchdown. After a punt from the Giants, the Cowboys scored yet another touchdown to make it 27-10, which put the game farther out of reach.
The Giants scored a field goal on their next drive, which helped cut down their deficit, but still left them with much work to do. The Giants defense held the Cowboys after their two consecutive touchdown drives and the Giants eventually capitalized on a Drew Lock touchdown, however, the score came to late, as the Cowboys recorded a first down and ran the clock out to earn a 27-20 victory.
