The New York Jets are back in the Meadowlands for the first time since week 2, taking on the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium. The New York Giants will be traveling to Maryland to face off against the Washington Commanders.
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets, 1 p.m.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, the New York Jets will be taking on the Cleveland Browns, as the home team looks to record their second win of the season. The Jets’ first game at MetLife Stadium this year ended in a nail-biting overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers, but the team is now looking to even their record at home.
The Jets and Browns faced off against one another last season, as the Jets had the upper hand, winning by a score of 27-20. The team was led by running back Breece Hall, who recorded 83 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards, propelling the Jets’ offense. This week, the Jets won’t have Hall to rely on, who is out with an injury, though, it leaves the door open for running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis to dominate on the ground.
The Browns defense has given up 348.5 yards per game through the first four weeks of the season, putting them at 23rd in the league. A Jets offense that recorded over 400 scrimmage yards two weeks ago is looking to capitalize on this trend.
The Jets will be without some of their key offensive weapons, including wide receivers Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr., as well as Hall. The team’s wide depth of talent, however, is proving to be beneficial, as the team will still have options such as Garrett Wilson, Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor to look towards this Sunday. The Jets will also have the benefits of a lively, Meadowlands crowd to give the team an extra boost.
New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders, 1 p.m.
The New York Giants will be traveling to take on the Washington Commanders this Sunday, the second NFC East opponent that the team has faced this season. Since quarterback Jameis Winston has taken over the role of the team’s starter, the Giants have maintained a perfect 2-0 record on the season. The Giants currently sit at 3-1, which puts them in sole possession of the first place spot in their division.
The Giants took down the Arizona Cardinals last week in a 36-24 victory that came down to the wire. Winston’s three passing touchdowns combined with a dominant defensive showing that saw the team record three interceptions, led the team to their third win of the season. One of the standout players in last Sunday’s game was rookie linebacker Arvell Reese, who recorded nine tackles, three passes defended and an interception.
This week, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will be returning to the field for the first time in three weeks, as the Giants look to capitalize on the third-year quarterback as he comes back. Young stars from Malik Nabers to Cam Skattebo have been detrimental to the Giants’ success early on in the season, even in the face of adversity.
The Giants will be looking to further improve their already impressive record this season in their second NFC East face-off of the season. This Sunday, both teams from the Meadowlands will take the field, looking to add another victory to their records as the season begins to ramp up.
