On Thursday, Aug. 8, the New York Giants will be taking on the Detroit Lions in their first pre-season game of the year at 7 p.m., in preparation of the 2024-25 NFL Season. This marks the first time one of East Rutherford’s football teams has played at MetLife since the Giants defeated the Eagles 27-10 on Jan. 7, 2024.
If you’re a Jets fan, you don’t have to wait much longer to watch them play at MetLife Stadium, as they will be taking on the Washington Commanders on Aug. 10 in East Rutherford at 12 p.m. It seems that the anticipated debut of Aaron Rodgers will have to wait until the regular season starts, as it has been deemed ‘unlikely’ that he will play in the pre-season. However, there will be an eager debut this Saturday in MetLife, as No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and Heisman winner Jayden Daniels will make his first appearance for the Commanders against the Jets.
The following week, both teams will be playing away games but will return on Aug. 24 to face off against one another for their annual preseason meeting. Since the team only face off once every 4 years, the preseason battle serves as the unofficial ‘Battle for the Meadowlands’ in the meantime, with the Jets currently defending their title.
Just as they do for regular season games, NJ TRANSIT will be offering rail service to MetLife Stadium at Secaucus Junction. With a train coming every 10-20 minutes that transports fans to the stadium, it is one of the most convenient ways to get there.
