Four Artists Announced to Perform at Flag Cities Events Around New Jersey

Earlier today, during a press conference at the Meadowlands Chamber HQ, four artists were announced that will be performing at Flag Cities. The goal of Flag Cities is to bring the FIFA World Cup excitement to different parts of the Garden State, with events spanning across four different counties. The artists will serve as part of the celebration that highlights soccer in the Meadowlands.

Flag Cities will be coming to eight different locations throughout the Garden State, offering exciting activities and entertainment for all guests to enjoy. The eight locations are Columbus Drive in Jersey City (June 12), Overpeck Park in Bergen County (June 14), Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus (June 21), Mulberry Commons in Newark (June 24), Riggin Memorial Field in East Rutherford (June 26), Stephen Gregg Park in Bayonne (June 28) and Hinchcliffe Stadium in Paterson (July 3). Of the eight locations, the four that had artists announced were Jersey City, Overpeck Park, Newark and East Rutherford.

Each well-known artist that is set to participate in Flag Cities will be accompanied by a local artist that is significant to the area where the event is taking place. It is a celebration of the diverse communities that can be found throughout the Meadowlands, creating a sense of pride while also being able to learn about other cultures. The FIFA World Cup is a competition between nations at the highest level but can also be a way to learn more about the participating countries.

The four artists that are set to perform during their respective Flag Cities event can be found listed below.

Columbus Drive, Jersey City – Village People

Village People is one of the most popular disco groups of all time, boasting several hit songs, including Y.M.C.A., which went platinum in the United States. The group has produced many other hits and created timeless classics that are still mentioned frequently today.

Overpeck Park, Bergen County – The Royal Scam

The Royal Scam is the name of Steely Dan’s fifth studio album, though it is also the name of one of the band’s most renowned tribute bands. The Royal Scam has been performing for over 30 years, playing to sold-out venues and performing Steely Dan’s classic hits.

Mulberry Commons, Newark – Soulja Boy

On May 2, 2007, rapper Soulja Boy released his debut single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)”, which would go on to be a defining moment for his career. The song skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for seven weeks. The Grammy-nominated song propelled him to superstardom and he has continued to make music over the years.

Riggin Memorial Field, East Rutherford – Easy Honey

Easy Honey is an indie rock band, formed in Charleston, South Carolina, during the college days of its founding members. The band has now transformed themselves from writing songs in the basements of academic buildings to performing tours that take them across the country.

Flag Cities offers everyone in New Jersey the opportunity to get in on the 2026 FIFA World Cup fever, even if not attending any games. Each event will take place a day or two before its corresponding FIFA World Cup match at MetLife Stadium, allowing guests across many NJ communities to enjoy themselves.
