Here’s What to Know Before My Chemical Romance Takes on MetLife Stadium This Saturday

On Saturday, Aug. 9, iconic rock band My Chemical Romance will be coming to MetLife Stadium for a one night show as part of their “Long Live’ The Black Parade Tour. The one-night concert begins at 6 p.m. Gates open 90 minutes prior at 4:30 p.m., with parking lots opening at 1 p.m.

The tour celebrates the band’s critically acclaimed album ‘The Black Parade’, which was released nearly two decades ago. The album was named among The Rolling Stones’ ‘500 Greatest Albums of All Time’.

The tour consists of 10 cities across North America, playing the full album. MetLife Stadium was an obvious choice of venue for the band, who originated in New Jersey. The group was formed in Newark, New Jersey in 2001. Another connection to the Garden State includes the band’s lead singer and frontman Gerard Way, who was raised in Belleville, New Jersey.

With tens of thousands expected to travel to the area for the concert, it will be a busy Saturday for drivers in the area. Other forms of transportation are being offered, including NJ Transit, which will be offering rail service from Secaucus Junction to MetLife Stadium throughout the entirety of the concert. Trains to MetLife Stadium will start departing at 3:33 p.m., with trains to Secaucus Junction leaving the venue no earlier than 1 a.m.

An alternate method of transportation is Redd’s Bar and Restaurant in Carlstadt, New Jersey, which offers shuttle service both to and from MetLife Stadium. The restaurant is located conveniently near MetLife Stadium, as it is just a two minute shuttle ride away. Shuttle service runs every 5-10 minutes before, during and after the concert.

The band’s appearance at MetLife Stadium is fitting, with their deep roots in the Garden State. The concert kicks off an epic run in the Meadowlands, with the Jonas Brothers and Chris Brown to follow in their steps, performing in the days following. Fans are given the opportunity to witness one of music’s most iconic albums performed live this weekend.
