On Saturday, Aug. 16, the two teams from the Meadowlands will battle it out at MetLife Stadium in their second matchup of the 2025 NFL Preseason. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m., as both teams look to continue their impressive starts. The Jets and Giants both won their opening games this past week, providing fans with hope for the upcoming season.
The Giants, who arguably have one of the deepest quarterback charts in the NFL, shined against the Buffalo Bills this past Saturday. Notably, rookie Jaxson Dart had an impressive showing, throwing for 154 yards and a passing touchdown in his first performance on an NFL field.
It was an all-around impressive performance for the Giants, as they defeated the Buffalo Bills by a score of 34-25. The offense shined, with three different quarterbacks throwing for touchdowns, displaying the team’s versatility. They will look to continue building upon their game as they return home to the Meadowlands.
Once there, they will be joined by the New York Jets, who are also travelling back from a successful road game in their 2025 NFL Preseason opener. On Saturday night, the Jets took on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The game also saw a new face start at quarterback from the team, among other changes.
Justin Fields only played the first drive of the game for the Jets, however, it was an impactful one. After signing with the Jets this past off-season, Fields’ debut went as smoothly as fans hoped, as he recorded 42 passing yards on just 4 attempts and a rushing touchdown to cap off the drive. Though it was his first and only drive of the game, it was a good sign for the team.
The Jets followed up on Fields’ performance with an impressive job all-around. The defense shined, while undrafted rookie Donovan Edwards made his mark on the team. The Jets defeated the Packers by a score of 30-10, the first win of new head coach Aaron Glenn’s career. The future looks bright with Glenn, as the Jets look to rely on him to lead them to their first playoff appearance in over a decade this season.

With both teams in the win column for the 2025 preseason, only one can remain undefeated. However, records take a back seat to development, which both teams will hope their players continue to show. The trend will hopefully continue for both teams, marking a successful upcoming year of football in the Meadowlands.
