The Liberty Science Center (LSC) in Jersey City is hosting its Winter Fest Jan. 18-20 with a variety of winter-themed activities for all ages.
The Sock Skating Rink is expanded and improved, with fluffy “snowball” fights happening hourly. Made from a high-tech synthetic polymer surface, this rink isn’t made of real ice but it is very slippery. The Sock Skating Rink is included in your general admission ticket.
Frosty the Snowman and Curious George will be on hand for photo opportunities, and there are seasonal labs and science shows, all included with admission.
The Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium planetarium — the largest in the United State — boasts a resolution of 88 million pixels, a lighting system that can produce over 281 trillion colors, and speakers capable of producing 30,000 watts of digital sound. All planetarium shows are available as an add-on to your general admission ticket.
A highlight of Big Weekend will be performances by Imagine Circus which will include: LED “Ringmaster” Shows, Bubble Guy Shows, and an LED Hooper. All included with your general admission ticket.
Try some liquid nitrogen vanilla ice cream, then take a ride on LSC’s new mini passenger train, the Snowflake Express, and tour the winter wonderland.
Finally, celebrate Tortellini the tortoise’s 13th hatch day (birthday) with LSC this weekend.
