On Saturday, May 16, the Meadowlands Racetrack will be hosting its annual Beerfest, as well as a Preakness Stakes simulcast. The venue is packed with exciting events throughout the entire month, with this week being one of the busiest times. It is set to be an entire day of entertainment, with doors opening for the Preakness Stakes simulcast at 9:30 a.m. and general admission for Beerfest starting at 5 p.m.
The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the triple crown for thoroughbred racing. It will be taking place on Saturday, May 16, at Laurel Park in Maryland, though fans in the Meadowlands will have the opportunity to watch the races from the Meadowlands Racetrack. The first race is set to kick off at 10:30 a.m. and will continue throughout the whole day. Once the Preakness Stakes simulcast is over, guests can still enjoy the racing action, as the Meadowlands Racetrack will be holding live racing beginning at 6:35 p.m.
Later that day, the Meadowlands Racetrack’s Beerfest will be taking place, which features tasting options from a variety of breweries, many of which are local. Guests will have the opportunity to taste beers from across the entire United States, while also enjoying live racing. From Bolero Snort Brewery in Carlstadt, New Jersey to Elysian Brewing Company in Seattle, Washington, the festival will have plenty of options for guests to choose from. There will also be a DJ providing live music to keep guests further entertained amongst all the other festivities.
General admission for the event begins at 5 p.m., lasting until 9 p.m., with VIP guests being granted access an hour earlier. Both options offer guests the general tastings, however, VIP ticket holders will be able to partake in exclusive tastings and a buffet.
General admission tickets for Beerfest cost $45 when purchased online and $50 when purchased on the day of the event. VIP tickets will cost $70.
Many breweries participating in Beerfest will be returning producers from previous years, along with new entries. Long-time Beerfest participants Bolero Snort, Ghost Hawk and Departed Soles will be at the event. Fan favorites such as Seven Tribesmen, Montclair Brewery, Bonesaw Brewing and Untied Brewing Co will also be pouring brews at Beerfest.
The event offers guests a perfect opportunity to try brews from all across New Jersey and beyond, with such a wide variety of participating breweries. In addition to the beverages, guests will be treated to live entertainment in the form of harness racing.
