On Saturday, July 25, the Meadowlands Racetrack will be hosting the second annual Meadowlands Chicken Run. The event’s participants will be suited in an inflatable chicken/rooster costume, competing in a race to win $250. The event is welcome to both adults and children, giving everyone an opportunity to get in on the fun.
Participants are required to bring their own costumes, though a select amount will be available for purchase at the venue. In keeping with the event’s name, all costumes are required to resemble only chickens, not accepting the various other animals for which inflatable costumes can be found.
Every adult competing in the event earns a $5 betting voucher, while every child competing earns a coupon for free ice cream. Each adult winner earns a $250 betting voucher, while every child winner receives a $250 Amazon gift card. The six races are divided amongst varying age groups, which can be found listed below.
- Under 6 (After 1st harness race)
- 6-12 (After 2nd harness race)
- Women 50 & Up (After 3rd harness race)
- Men 50 & Up (After 4th harness race)
- 13-49 (After 6th harness race)
- 13-49 (After 7th harness race)
Throughout the event, there will also be harness racing taking place for guests to enjoy. The racing is set to begin at 6:35 p.m., with the second annual chicken run scheduled to begin soon after.
