The Meadowlands Racetrack will be hosting its inaugural Corgi Cup on Saturday, Sept. 6, to bring a new entertainment concept to the venue. In between a night of live harness racing, Corgis will be taking over the track in a series of races. It offers an exciting night for guests of all ages. Admission into the event and parking are both free.
The eighty canine contestants will be competing in eight heats, starting at 6 p.m., with the Corgi Cup Final taking place at 9:25 p.m. Each heat features ten dogs racing, with the winner of each heat advancing to the final round.
One of the event’s sponsors, Spot & Tango, was able to provide contestants with free UnKibble dog food and poop bags. Even if a Corgi doesn’t make it to the final, they will not be walking away empty-handed.
Fans have a variety of outside activities to enjoy in the meantime, including the live harness racing that will be taking place throughout the night. Guests can enjoy live music from DJ Alx to set the mood for a night of fun. There will also be delicious food and cocktails from the racetrack’s Backyard BBQ & Grill. For dessert, Clyde’s will be serving homemade ice cream.
There will also be a Doggieroadtrippin booth, which is a company that helps plan dog-friendly travel. Guests can stop by the dog treat food truck, Groomington Eats, to pick up some treats for their pets.
