On Saturday, Feb. 28, Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment will be hosting a viewing party for Seton Hall’s upcoming game against UConn. The event marks the 12th Annual National Game Watch, as the two teams face off with March Madness hopes on the line.
Seton Hall currently sits at 4th in the Big East Conference, with less-than-ideal odds to make the men’s NCAA tournament in March. However, this game offers the team an opportunity to make a case for qualification. The University of Connecticut (UConn) is currently ranked as the 6th best team in the nation, sitting atop the Big East standings. A win over the Connecticut powerhouse could shift momentum in favor of the Seton Hall Pirates with March Madness looming.
Seton Hall has long-been one of the Garden State’s premier college basketball teams, appearing 14 times in the NCAA tournament. The school’s last time playing in the tournament came in 2022, when they entered as an 8 seed. With the odds stacked against them, they will look to pull off an upset to better their chances of making an appearance this year.
For UConn’s head coach Dan Hurley, the matchup is a homecoming, of sorts, as he played for Seton Hall for five years, from 1991 to 1996. After his playing career, Hurley took on a career as a coach, where he worked his way to becoming UConn’s head coach, where he has already won two national championships with the team.
The game is set to take place at noon and will be streamed at the Gallery, which features large TV screens, furniture and waitress service. Fans in attendance will be able to enjoy a stellar viewing experience as Seton Hall looks to defy the odds. Admission to the viewing party is free for all guests.
