The schedules for the 2025-26 NFL Season were revealed yesterday, signifying another year of football in the Meadowlands. MetLife Stadium will be booked and busy for the start of the new season, with the Jets playing their two opening games there. The Giants will also be under the bright lights, as primetime football comes to the region twice.
On Sept. 7, the Jets will kick off their season at home against the Steelers at 1 p.m. It will likely feature a matchup that sees Justin Fields face off against his former team. As if it didn’t already seem scripted enough as it is, Aaron Rodgers, who has been rumored with the Steelers, could make his return to MetLife.
A week later, on Sept. 14, the Jets will stay in the Meadowlands, taking on their first divisional rival in the Buffalo Bills at 1 p.m. The Jets two primetime games will both come on the road against divisional rivals. The first is on Sept. 29 against the Dolphins for Monday Night Football and the second on Nov. 13 against the Patriots during Thursday Night Football.
The New York Giants’ opening game at MetLife Stadium will be a primetime matchup against the reigning AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs. The matchup will prove to be a challenge for this young Giants team early into the season.
Their second primetime matchup will also be at MetLife Stadium, on Oct. 9, where they will take on a divisional rival in the reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles for Thursday Night Football. Arguably, the two best teams in the NFL last season, the Giants will have their work cut out for them under the spotlight at MetLife Stadium.
