Bergen County was recently awarded $319,400 in grant funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, which is to be used to support arts and cultural programming throughout Bergen County. The grant will support a wide variety of cultural and arts-centric programs overseen by the Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
Through these programs, Bergen County residents of all ages will have opportunities to express their creativity, experience the arts and interact more within their communities. The arts and cultural programs that would benefit from the grant are vital to contributing to the quality of life and expression of communities across Bergen County.
“Arts and culture are an important part of what makes Bergen County such a great place to live,” said County Executive James J. Tedesco, III. “This funding will help us continue some of the programs and events that residents look forward to each year, while also supporting local arts organizations doing great work in communities across Bergen County. I want to thank the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for this investment and for recognizing the important role the arts play in bringing people together.”
The grant funding will be used to support activities and events organized by the Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs. This includes some of Bergen County’s most beloved annual programs, ensuring that they remain alive and continue bringing fun experiences to residents across the County. Some of the programs included are the Bergen County Teen Arts Festival, the Music at the Wortendyke Barn concert series, Art in the Park and music at the annual Bergen County 4-H Fall Harvest Festival.
“This grant is a wonderful investment in the arts and in the many organizations, programs, and events that enrich our communities throughout Bergen County,” said Commissioner Chairman Steve Tanelli. “We are proud to support opportunities that make the arts accessible to residents of all ages and help our local arts community continue to grow and thrive.”
The funding will also be used to support Bergen County-based nonprofit arts organizations through the Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs program. As a whole, the grant funding allows Bergen County to continue running many cherished events and activities throughout the County, giving residents an easy opportunity to connect with the local arts in their communities.
