Jonas Family and Vegas
There are some serious hometown vibes in Vegas for the brothers, despite being about 2,500 miles from their actual hometown of Wyckoff, New Jersey. Not only did Joe Jonas get married in Vegas in 2019, but four years ago, the brothers joined their family, Kevin Sr., Denise, and Franklin, to open Nellie’s Southern Kitchen at the MGM Grand. The family’s southern roots date back to the 1760s in North Carolina.
The restaurant is named for Kevin Sr.’s grandmother, who died at the age of 85 in 2011. It’s located in The District opposite the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and features classic Southern dishes inspired by Nellie Jonas. It’s actually the second location; the first, in Nellie’s hometown of Belmont, North Carolina, opened in 2016.
Jonas Brothers and Belleville’s Belmont Tavern
The Jonas Brothers featured the iconic Belmont Tavern in Belleville, New Jersey, on the cover of their 2025 album “Greetings From Your Hometown.” The Jersey trio chose the historic eatery to represent their roots, shooting the restaurant’s interior for the album cover. Additional photos of the Belmont were also used for the tour’s promotional materials.

The Jonas Brothers, who are said to be frequent guests at the Belmont, chose to have lunch there when they appeared on Eater‘s YouTube series “Let’s Do Lunch.” They discussed their 20th-anniversary tour, tour riders (including a full coffee setup), and their favorite foods.
Why the Belmont?
There is a fairly robust roster of Jersey restaurants with a “hometown” old-school vibe, whether overtly stated, deliberately subtle, or quietly je nais se quois. A quick overview of historic Italian restaurants comes to mind, and among them is Angelo’s in Lyndhurst (July 1966); Patsy’s in Newark (1950s); Leo’s Grandevous, Hoboken (1936);
Many eateries across the Meadowlands region even have cultural and historical significance, with black-and-white glossies of the rich and famous plastered across dark-paneled walls. So why did the Jonas Brothers, who grew up in Wyckoff and lived as young adults in Little Falls, wax nostalgic about an iconic restaurant they were too young to enjoy in its heyday?
In a world that’s increasingly fast-changing and unpredictable, the Belmont is frozen in time, with a predictable old-school menu. Only the prices change. That nostalgic, family-style Jersey feeling matched the album’s concept, Kevin Jonas said in several interviews.
Greetings From Your Hometown is meant as a love letter to the places and influences that shaped them in New Jersey.
Going Viral in 1968
The Belmont was founded in 1967 by Chef Charles “Stretch” Verdicchio at 12 Bloomfield Ave., Belleville. The establishment quickly went viral, with its signature dish, Stretch’s Chicken Savoy, sparking a copycat sensation across New Jersey’s Italian restaurant scene, according to reports and historical newspaper accounts. New Jersey is dubbed the original creator of the dish.
Passed on to Stretch by his mother, the famous recipe is now in the hands of his daughter, Annette Wroblewski, who runs the Belmont at the same location where it opened more than half a century ago. The menu offerings are largely the same as in 1967, keeping the spotlight on old-school Italian dishes, classic red sauce, and a nostalgic atmosphere that takes patrons back in time.
Annette runs the restaurant with her husband and daughter, Kim Sorrentino. Chef Leo Lukar, not part of the family, has worked at the restaurant in some capacity for over 20 years. The bar and the building are independently owned by James Cuomo.
Aside from being famous for Stretch’s Chicken Savoy, the Belmont gets high praise from Yelpers, reviewers, and fans on social media for its Shrimp Beeps, pork franchaise, chicken Murphy, and ziti with pot cheese.
Famous for its Food and its Patrons

The restaurant is legendary for hosting celebrities, with photos of Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valli, Joe DiMaggio, and Connie Francis (Belleville High School Class of 1955) adorning the walls. There are shots of former Giants running back Tiki Barber, Knicks legend Ernie Grunfeld, Hollywood wise guys Joe Piscopo and Frank Vincent, and actor Clint Eastwood. Even Pope John Paul II is rumored to have eaten at the famous restaurant.
