Palisades Medical Surprises JFK Elementary With Visit From Santa

There was a new stop on Santa’s route this year, and it was right at the heart of North Bergen. The team at Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center wrote a new prescription for holiday cheer, launching their first-ever “Adopt-a-School” event at John F. Kennedy Elementary School on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., the school was transformed into a festive hub of excitement. The hospital’s compassionate team members, acting as Santa’s special helpers, were joined by North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the guests of honor, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who arrived to the delight of students from Pre-K to 6th grade.

In a thoughtful twist, the gifts were tailored by grade. Younger students unwrapped dolls, cars, and other age-appropriate toys, their faces lit with pure joy. For the “big kids” in 6th grade, a special surprise awaited: students received Amazon gift cards, giving them the freedom to choose their own perfect present.

The event beautifully aligns with JFK School’s mission to educate students to become active and productive members of their community. This new partnership with Palisades Medical Center serves as a powerful real-world lesson in community spirit and giving back.

Lisa Iachetti, President and Chief Hospital Executive of Palisades Medical Center and the executive team from Palisades Medical Center were on hand to kick off the new tradition. “We are absolutely thrilled to begin this wonderful new partnership with the students and staff at John F. Kennedy Elementary,” she said. “Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces as they receive their presents is the greatest gift of all. It’s a privilege to bring this joy to such a great group of kids and support the school’s mission of building our community’s future leaders.”

This inaugural event marks the beginning of what promises to be a cherished annual tradition, strengthening the bond between the hospital and the community it serves, one joyful student at a time.
