Al Ahly FC will be playing two group stage games at MetLife Stadium in just a few months for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. On Jun. 19, they will face off against SE Palmeiras and on Jun. 23, they will go up against FC Porto. One of the team’s key pieces to look out for as they search for victory is Emam Ashour.
Ashour joined Al Ahly on Jul. 18, 2023 and has been an integral part of the team’s success in recent years. As the club won the CAF Champions League for the 20th time, Ashour was a main contributor. He was also vital in helping them achieve the Egypt Cup title.
Since joining the team, the 27-year-old Ashour has continued to show growth as a player. In the 2023-24 season, he accumulated 10 goals and 9 assists across 46 appearances. This includes 3 appearances in last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, in which he scored a goal.
This season, Ashour already has 13 goals and 5 assists across 26 appearances. His significant increase in performance over the past season offers Al Ahly a boost in confidence, hoping to head for first place this year after placing third in their last appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Born and raised in Egypt, Ashour is also a member of the Egyptian national football team, where he represents his country. Though, his performances with Al Ahly is where he displays his talents to their fullest potential.
