Bring Your Appetite to Stakes & Steaks at Meadowlands Racetrack

The second annual Stake and Steaks event takes place on Saturday, May 11 at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Teams can register to compete in two steak cook-off categories plus bonus hotdog and cocktail categories.

Those interested in competing can register here.

All registrants must be a minimum of 13 years old (21+ for cocktail category); one entry per category.

The event also includes local food trucks and a chance to win a three-night stay at Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas and Rolling Stones tickets.

Burger Battle July 13

The annual Meadowlands Racetrack Burger Battle is coming up on Saturday, July 13, Meadowlands Pace night.

Prizes at stake:

  • $1,500 grand prize
  • $1,000 second
  • $500 third
  • $500 best tasting

The event runs 5-11 p.m. and is free. Two lucky fans will win a spot at the judging table and help determine the top three burgers.

Nineteen area food trucks are already signed up to participate in the Burger Battle including: Rolling Pita, Latin Bites, The Why Not Burgerz, Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats, Rods Fish and Chips, Cat Like Reflexes, Antojitos di mi Tierra, Green Dog Mobile, Carnival Concessions, Uncle Bob’s Kettle Corn, Bitch’n Bacon, Delicious Lola Josefa’s, DAW Concessions, Freakin Empanadas, Fire and Coal BBQ Grill, The Mozzarella God and Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice and Ice Cream.

Seafood Fest July 27

The always popular Seafood Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 with live race card featuring eliminations for the $1 million Hambletonian and $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks.

There will be plenty of seafood bites including fish tacos, crab fries, lobster rolls, fried clams, fried fish, and much more. This free event runs from 5-11 p.m.

Vendors on tap: Latin Bites, Angry Archie’s, Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats, Green Dog Mobile, Antojitos di mi Tierra, DAW Concessions, Uncle Bob’s Kettle Corn, Naya Shushi on Wheels, The Mozzarella God, Eat My Balls, Cousins Maine Lobster, Bitch’n Bacon, Rods Fish & Chips, Fire and Coal BBQ Grill, Clyde’s Homemade Italian Ice and Ice Cream and Cat Like Reflexes.

Handicapping Contests

On Saturday, May 18th the track hosts a free handicapping contest with a $10,000 total prize pool, with prize payouts to the top ten finishers. Fans may register up until 6:30 p.m. on the night of the contest in the Clubhouse Lobby. There is no entry fee.

The fifth annual Charity Handicapping Contest returnson Saturday, May 25. The Charity Contest is a free handicapping challenge open to 501C3 organizations. The Contest offers a $15,000 total donation/prize pool, with all ten charities receiving a donation.
