Route 21’s Exit 6 Closed for Water Main Repairs

Commuters and residents in the greater Meadowlands region who regularly use NJ’s Route 21 North Exit 6 will need to find a new way to get around due to repair work in progress to fix a water main.

Work began during the evening on April 17 when Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) started repairing a break in the 16-inch water main. The construction is occurring directly under the Exit 6 ramp.

Exit 6 on Route 21 North connects motorists to the Bellville and North Arlington areas. Additionally, it is an opportunity to connect to Route 7 which stretches from Bellville to Jersey City, passing through the Meadowlands.

The construction is expected to take about a week and will not have any effect on the water supply. PVWC did note that water pressure might drop temporarily for North Arlington customers.

PVWC is working with state and local authorities to ensure that the issue is resolved quickly and safely. Any PVWC customers with concerns can contact them at 973-340-4300.
