At the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce, our mission is clear: to drive business growth and build a sustainable regional economy. But fulfilling that mission requires more than just reacting to today’s challenges. It demands that we look ahead, envision what’s possible, and build a roadmap to get there.
Visioning the future isn’t just a strategic exercise for us; it’s the foundation of our advocacy. We believe that the most impactful economic development begins with a bold vision, and right now, our boldest vision is to transform the Meadowlands Sports Complex into a true destination hub by building a world-class multi-use Convention Center.
This isn’t just a dream — we have the data to back it. A comprehensive Market Analysis and Economic Impact Report conducted in 2022 and again in 2025 concluded that a convention center at the Meadowlands could generate $30 billion in economic impact over 30 years. That’s not just a number—it’s a signal. It tells us that the destination-related economy is not only growing but also becoming one of the most promising segments of our regional economic landscape.
The Meadowlands region already has the bones of a great destination. We’re home to MetLife Stadium, which attracts the world’s biggest events, the American Dream Retail & Entertainment Center, the Meadowlands Racetrack, and a dense network of hotels, restaurants, and transportation infrastructure.
What we lack is the connective tissue — a convention center that can anchor large-scale events, attract national and international visitors, and catalyze year-round economic activity. Think about it: Meetings and conventions, along with youth and amateur sporting events, bring thousands of attendees who stay in hotels, dine in local restaurants, shop, and explore.
They create jobs — not just in hospitality, but in logistics, marketing, tech, and more. They increase a region’s visibility and create ripple effects that benefit small businesses and entrepreneurs. And in a post-pandemic world where face-to-face engagement is regaining its value, the demand for flexible, modern convention space is surging.
We’re not just advocating for a building. We’re advocating for a future where the Meadowlands
becomes a magnet for innovation, commerce, and culture. A multi-use convention center would allow us to host trade shows, industry summits, cultural expos, and youth & amateur sporting events that currently bypass our region. It would complement existing assets and unlock new growth opportunities.
But visioning the future also means identifying what’s already working — and doubling down. The destination economy is growing because people want experiences. They want places that offer entertainment, connection, and convenience. The Meadowlands is uniquely positioned to deliver all of that, and more.
As leaders, we have a responsibility not only to see what’s possible but also to act on it. That’s why the Chamber and its 2040 Foundation are working tirelessly to build coalitions, engage stakeholders, and make the case for this transformative project. We know that big ideas require big collaboration — and we’re ready to lead that charge.
The Meadowlands has always been a place of potential. Now, it’s time to turn that potential
into progress. Let’s build a future that reflects the ambition, resilience, and creativity of our region.
Let’s build a convention center that becomes the heartbeat of a thriving destination economy.
Because when we envision the future with clarity and courage, we don’t just imagine what could
Be — we make it happen
