From Kendrick Lamar to Shakira to Beyoncé, the Meadowlands has been on a tear over the past few weeks, with talent from across the world performing at MetLife Stadium. This week, the region welcomes another superstar, an artist who was dubbed as the ‘most popular artist’ by Guinness World Records, The Weeknd.
On Jun. 5, The Weeknd will be kicking off a three-night run of shows in the Meadowlands for his ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’. The tour will be his last under the alias The Weeknd, as he transitions to a rebrand of his entire image.
The Weeknd will be joined on the tour by Atlanta rapper, Playboi Carti. Carti is a superstar in his own right, currently sitting in the top 50 in monthly listeners on Spotify. During the concert, he performs before The Weeknd comes out, before the duo come together again, at times, to perform their hit song ‘Timeless’.
Both of the artists’ popularity is sure to bring a hefty crowd to the Meadowlands, so it is important to be advised that traffic may be worse than usual from Jun. 5 to 7. With hundreds of thousands of fans expected to travel to MetLife Stadium, drive with the caution of potential traffic in areas in and around the venue.
Many people will not need to drive, however, as NJ Transit will be offering rail service to MetLife Stadium from Secaucus Junction. For recent concerts, these services were unavailable due to the recent strikes, though they have returned. This will undoubtedly make travel to and from the venue more efficient for many commuters.
Additionally, Redd’s will be offering shuttle service to the concert on all three days. Located conveniently less than a mile from the venue, it is the cheapest and closest off-site parking. The shuttle runs every five to ten minutes throughout the duration of the event, up until 2 hours after the concert ends.
This will be the last concert held at MetLife Stadium before the venue takes a hiatus from music to host the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup for a month. If residents are hoping to get a glimpse of some summer concerts, this will be their last opportunity in over a month and some of the best artists will be performing.
