New Jersey has seen rising heat and humidity; the frequency of extreme weather events has spiked. Because the Meadowlands sit at sea level and serve as the region’s natural drainage basin, recent climate shifts have severely affected the area for years.

As of Friday, July 17, the weather forecast for game day, Sunday, July 19, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, looks near perfect: a warm, mostly sunny day with temperatures peaking in the mid-80s and rain chances remaining low. Chance of rain doesn’t come into play, and it might. The temperature is expected to be in the mid-80s, with a mix of sun and clouds, and a 60% chance of showers. There is also a slight risk of pop-up thunderstorms, which could potentially cause delays.

Designed to create a World Cup atmosphere with a focus on local and international cuisine and community celebration, the fest in Secaucus on June 21 was part of the Flag Cities buildup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final. The event featured a watch party for Spain vs. Saudi Arabia in Atlanta, Georgia. (Spain secured a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.)

In partnership with Goya Foods and Hackensack Meridian Health, there were interactive family fun events, live soccer broadcasts on massive LED screens, food trucks with an international flair, a beer garden, artisan vendors, and interactive soccer clinics. Live entertainment featured a freestyle concert with TKA, George Lamond, and Judy Torres.
East Rutherford: Riggins Memorial Field
The Flag Cities 2026 World Cup Fan Fest at Riggin Memorial Field in East Rutherford, NJ, took place on Friday, June 26, from 5 to 11 p.m., with watch parties broadcasting international matchups, including Uruguay vs. Spain and Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia.
There were local food trucks, soccer clinics, vendors, giveaways, and live music featuring the Royal Scam and Easy Honey.
