JLL (NYSE: JLL) moved up on the 2026 Fortune 500® list, ranking #175, up from #188 in 2025, due to the global commercial real estate firm’s strong revenue performance, driven by continued execution of its strategic growth initiatives.

There are 15 Fortune 500 companies in the Garden State, with a strong presence in pharmaceuticals, financial services, and logistics. The firms have $442 billion in combined revenue and employ close to 961,000 people.

The top five Fortune 500 companies in New Jersey and how each ranked nationally:

  1. Johnson & Johnson ($94 billion), headquartered in New Brunswick, is the highest-ranking on the New Jersey list, and comes in at 45 on the Fortune 500.
  2. Merck ($65 billion), headquartered in Rahway, ranks second in the state, 68th on the list.
  3. Prudential Financial ($61 billion), Newark, ranks 3rd in the state, 78th on the list.
  4. Bristol-Myers Squibb ($48 billion), Princeton, ranks 97th on the list, 4th in N.J.
  5. PBF Energy ($29 billion), Parsippany, ranks 154th overall and 5th in the state.

Fortune 500 Firsts in 2026

For the first time in 13 years, retail giant Walmart ($713 billion in revenue) was knocked out of the number 1 spot by online marketplace behemoth Amazon ($717 billion in revenue).

Another first: Blockchain companies debuted on the list, along with a dozen other first-timers in a cross-section of industries. Blockchain firm Galaxy Digital ($61.3 billion) ranked 76 and Bitgo Holdings ($16.1 billion) came in at 273.

Of the dozen first-timers, mattress company Somnigroup International ($7.5 billion) made the list at 499. Formerly known as Tempur Sealy, the company owns Mattress Firm, U.K.-based Dreams, and oversees memory foam mattress products.

Other newcomers included: Medline ($28.4 billion), Amentum Holdings ($14.4 billion), Venture Global ($13.8 billion), mattress company

While not new to the list, Vulcan Materials ($7.4 billion, just under the minimum) comes in last at 500. The Alabama-based materials company is the largest producer of construction aggregates in the U.S.
