2025 FIFA Club World Cup Team Spotlight: Inter Miami CF

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in just about two weeks and the next team that will be in the spotlight is Inter Miami CF. One of the few American teams participating in the tournament, Inter Miami is based out of Miami, Florida. Inter Miami plays in Major League Soccer (MLS), the highest level of soccer in the United States.

The club will be one of the youngest to compete in the tournament, being founded just seven years ago, on Jan. 29, 2018. In its short history, the club has gotten much public attention from one of its co-owners, David Beckham. Beckham is a former soccer player, best known for his time on Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Inter Miami made waves throughout the soccer community in 2023, signing Lionel Messi, one of the greatest soccer players to exist. Beckham’s role within the team played a significant part in Messi, which took the team to new heights. The team has also landed other iconic players such as Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez.

In 2023, the year the club acquired Messi, Inter Miami finished one spot from last place in the standings. The following year, they held the best record in the MLS. Currently, Inter Miami sits at sixth place in the standings with a record of seven wins, five draws and three losses.

The team’s record not only improved after Messi joined, but they also won their first major trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup. The team, despite being one of the newer additions to MLS, is valued at $1.2 billion, making them the second most valuable team in the league.

Inter Miami plays their games at Chase Stadium, with a capacity of 21,550, for their ever-growing fanbase. As one of the most popular teams in the MLS, they are planning to move to Miami Freedom Park next year, which will hold a capacity of 25,000.

The team has never participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, as they will be making their debut this year. Though some players are familiar with MetLife Stadium, if the team makes it far enough to play in the Meadowlands. Last year, both Messi and Suárez competed at MetLife Stadium as part of the Copa América tournament.

With the tournament being played in their home country, Inter Miami can enter their first FIFA Club World Cup with an advantage. If they are able to make it to the final match, it will be played at MetLife Stadium.
