On Saturday, June 6, the Meadowlands Racetrack will be hosting the eighth rendition of its annual Weiner Dog Derby. The event features adorable dachshunds racing in between harness races throughout the night. The wiener dog races will take place at 6 p.m., while the harness races are set to begin at 6:35 p.m.
Admission to the event is free, in addition to parking. The event offers entertainment for the whole family, offering a perfect way for everyone to watch these cute pups compete against one another in a fun battle. The races will be taking place throughout the night, over a nearly four hour span. The approximate race times for each wiener dog race can be found listed below.
- 6 p.m. (Before Race 1)
- 6:10 p.m. (Before Race 1)
- 6:20 p.m. (Before Race 1)
- 6:30 p.m. (Before Race 1)
- 7 p.m. (After Race 1)
- 7:20 p.m. (After Race 2)
- 7:45 p.m. (After Race 3)
- 8:10 p.m. (After Race 4)
- 9:06 p.m. (After Race 6)
- 9:30 p.m. (After Race 7)
- Finals: 9:45 p.m. (After Race 8)
There will be $1,700 in total prize money given out for the weiner dog races, with each qualifier winner earning a $100 betting voucher and a dog goodie bag, with the winner of the finals taking home an additional $500 betting voucher. The only dogs that are permitted in the track are those that will be competing in the event.
