On Wednesday, Nov. 5, Adidas unveiled the official 2026 home kits for 22 partner federations, as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches. The kits displayed were for Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Wales.
The kits honor the unique identities and traditions of the nations that will be wearing them. The designs offer a more modernized look, while also honoring the game itself, to bridge the gap between all generations of fans.
The jerseys reflect the hearts of each participating nation, consisting of colorways and patterns that are unique to the identity of each team. From landscapes to architecture, the kits look to unite people to support their nation.
“The national kit is the symbol of a nation’s togetherness and pride,” said Sam Handy, GM of Adidas Football. “As teams step onto the world stage at the biggest World Cup we have ever seen, they carry the hopes of a whole new generation of fans, while representing those that have come before them. A World Cup is about creating moments that transcend the stadium, so we’ve engineered the designs as an honour to each nation’s roots but also to celebrate an era where every fan, everywhere, is part of the story.”
Other details found in the kits pay homage to the tournament’s historic legacy, from past jersey designs to prior victories. The tournament is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, if not the largest, which highlights the importance of displaying its legacy.
The kits are not just aesthetically pleasing and meaningful, but are also designed to provide maximum performance for world-class soccer players. Body-mapped 3D engineered mechanical stretch fabrics that used Adidas’ CLIMACOOL + materials were implemented in the jersey to keep players drier for longer in warm-weather conditions. Strategically placed mesh holes also allow for more breathability amongst players.
The unveiling of the kits is a major step as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches. The jerseys work to represent the unique identities of each nation that has qualified for the tournament, working to unite all fans.
