American Dream Hosts ‘The Throne’ High School National Championship This Thursday

From Mar. 19 to 21, American Dream will be hosting ‘The Throne’, a single-elimination, bracket-style tournament that features the top high school basketball teams in the country. Both brackets consist of eight boys and girls teams competing to be the last team standing in their respective bracket.

The winners of the tournament will receive $50,000 split amongst the boys and girls teams to support their athletic programs. The prize money comes through a donation from the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Foundation.

The games will be played at The Rink at American Dream, which will not be the first time that star players have taken the court in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Some of the previous standout athletes that have played at The Rink include Duke star and projected top-three pick Cam Boozer, his brother Cayden Boozer, Jase Richardson, Kiyan Anthony and many others.

The 16 participating teams will be travelling from all across the country to participate in the tournament, with teams from California to Texas to Oregon coming to American Dream to play. The boys and girls brackets each feature a participating New Jersey team, representing the Garden State. For the boys side, it is the Bergen Catholic Crusaders from Oradell, New Jersey and for the girls side, it will be the Saint John Vianney Lancers out of Holmdel, New Jersey.

‘The Throne’ was launched in 2023 by the NBPA and under the guidance of Gold Level Sports and Entertainment’s advisory board, which consists of several NBA players including Rudy Gay, Harrison Barnes, Danny Green, Dwight Howard and NBPA President, Fred VanVleet. The tournament showcases elite competition among some of the nation’s best players, as well as teaching essential life skills, to prepare players both on and off the court.

All games from ‘The Throne will be streamed on NBA TV and the NBA app. For more updates regarding the tournament, visit https://www.thethronehoops.com/.
