On Saturday, July 8, the Bergen County Historical Society will be hosting a vintage baseball game at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge. The game will follow a double header format and is expected to last from 11 am to 2 pm.
The Flemington Neshanocks will be facing off against the Enterprise Club of New Bridge in a game of 19th century baseball. The game will follow 19th century rules, use 19th century equipment and the teams will be dressed in authentic uniforms during their double header game.
Those in attendance will have access to perks such as a free HNBL scorecard, as well as a wide selection of food and drinks. Hot dogs, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase, in addition to an ice cream truck which will also be at the venue. For those seeking to purchase a souvenir, there will be a gift shop available for viewers to peruse. In between games, a quick walking tour of the grounds will be led by BCHS interpreters.
While tickets do not have to be reserved it is highly recommended. The cost is $12 per adult, $7 per student and BCHS members can attend free of charge. To order tickets and find out more about the event, visit bergencountyhistory.org.
