Bergen New Bridge Helps Patients Keep Healthcare Coverage As PHE Unwinds

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is working with patients to help them keep their healthcare coverage as the Public Health Emergency (PHE) comes to an end.

NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid has followed the federal COVID-19 PHE rules since the pandemic began in March 2020. These rules allowed NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid members to maintain their healthcare coverage, even if they no longer qualify.

Once it is determined by the federal government that the PHE is over, NJ FamilyCare will resume standard federal rules.

NJ FamilyCare will begin reviewing members enrolled in an NJ FamilyCare Program once the PHE ends to see if they still qualify for coverage. Those who are currently covered will receive mail from the State of New Jersey, or their County Board of Social Services asking all members to provide or confirm additional information.

The reviewing process runs April 1 through Dec. 31, 2024. Bergen New Bridge is helping patients get through the application process. A Bergen County Board of Social Services caseworker is available at the medical center for any patients seeking help from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Appointments can be scheduled by email at CentralScheduling@newbridgehealth.org or by phone at 201.225.7130.
