On May 9, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s new Bariatric Center, which was created in partnership with the New York Bariatric Group to give more people access to this vital service.
New York Bariatric Group (NYBG) is a nationally renowned bariatric practice comprised of some of the country’s best bariatric surgeons. With offices spread across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, NYBG is the leading bariatric practice in the tri-state area.
“Bariatric surgery can improve the ability to perform routine daily activities, which helps improve overall quality of life, and that is why adding this service is another vital component of our ability to enhance access to meaningful care and services,” said Deborah Visconi, President & CEO, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “Many thanks to our team who worked tirelessly with the New York Bariatric Group to make the Bariatric Center a reality.”
Bariatric surgery is often performed on those who are severely overweight and are in need of some form of weight loss. When dieting and exercising is not effectively helping someone lose weight, bariatric surgery is offered as an alternate option. Changes are made to the digestive system to make it easier to lose weight after the surgery is performed.
“Thank you to the New York Bariatric Group for choosing this Medical Center and for bringing your business here, which will help those who need this kind of care,” said James Tedesco, Bergen County Executive. “Thank you to everyone here at Bergen New Bridge because you have embraced change and made this facility into a world-class medical center which makes the lives of the people of Bergen County better every day.”
“I’m so proud of the services offered at the Medical Center which are cutting edge and address the needs of our community,” said Mary Amoroso, Bergen County Commissioner. “Obesity is a medical issue facing many in this country and here at Bergen New Bridge there is support, direction, and healing which can turn the tide on this challenge facing so many members of our community.”
There will be a variety of weight loss procedures at the Center, including gastric balloons, LAP-BAND© adjustable gastric band, revisional surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and gastric bypass.
