Bergen New Bridge Medical Signs With Epic Electronic Health Record Platform

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center has selected Epic, one of the world’s leading electronic health record (EHR) platforms, to deliver equitable, connected, and patient-centered care to the more than one million lives it touches each year.

As the largest hospital and licensed nursing home in New Jersey and a key public safety-net facility, Bergen New Bridge serves one of the most diverse and medically complex populations in the region, the hospital said in a statement.

The adoption of Epic represents a bold investment in technology that will streamline operations, enhance clinical decision-making, and dramatically improve a patient’s experience across acute, behavioral health, long-term care, and ambulatory settings, Bergen New Bridge said.

It’s All About Care

Beyond a technology upgrade, Epic offers a “transformation in how we deliver care,” said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.

Visconi said that teaming up with Epic gives Bergen New Bridge Medical Center the ability to fortify continuity of care while amplifying health equity.

“… empowering both patients and clinicians with tools that make healthcare more human, personalized, and accessible,” Visconi said.

Epic is Epic

The implementation of Epic is expected to strengthen Bergen New Bridge’s role in regional care delivery by aligning it with top health systems across the country already using Epic, enabling more seamless information-sharing for patients who receive care in multiple systems.

“Bergen New Bridge has an inspiring vision for using technology to advance community-wide health,” said Leela Vaughn, Vice President, Epic. “We’re proud to support their efforts by providing an integrated health record that empowers care teams and enhances the patient experience across the region.”

About Epic

Epic’s health system suite has been ranked number one in the nation for 15 years by KLAS Research and has been chosen by more than 73,000 hospitals and clinics.

More than 90% of U.S. medical students and residents train on Epic as their primary residency EHR.

Following the 18-month implementation, Bergen New Bridge is scheduled for a go-live date with Epic early 2027. More details about the implementation and timeline will be shared as they become available.
