Fine wine and philanthropy set the stage for the nearly 100 guests gathered at the historic Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Family Promise of Bergen County.
Hosted by Denise and Tony Ferolie, along with Natalie and Frank Wong, the event raised essential funding for the two non-profits, which provide food, resources, and support to those in need.
Attendees enjoyed a curated selection of exquisite wines from around the world, with tastings offered by the Allied Beverage Company and Kobrand Wine & Spirits. Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to indulge in complimentary, hand-rolled cigars crafted on-site, courtesy of the Wong and Ferolie families.
A buffet dinner was also generously provided by the hosts. All proceeds from the event directly benefited the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, which is dedicated to addressing food insecurity across the state, and Family Promise of Bergen County, a Ridgewood-based organization committed to providing housing and support services to working families facing homelessness.
Addressing the Root Causes of Hunger
There are close to 1 million people in New Jersey — including 260,00 children — who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is the largest anti-hunger, anti-poverty organization in the state, where nearly one million neighbors, including 1 in 8 children, struggle with the emptiness caused by hunger.
“Nearly 1 million people in the Garden State may not know where their next meal is coming from, including more than 260,000 children. The support generated by this event will help us provide nutritious food and address the root causes of hunger as we work towards our goal of ensuring that everyone has enough to eat,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
“We’re grateful to the Ferolie and Wong families for hosting and to all the generous supporters who attended to help raise over $20,000 for our mission,” McCarthy added.
“Nearly 40% of NJ residents are unable to cover an unexpected $400 expense. Is it any wonder that more and more local families are facing homelessness and hunger?” asked Kate Duggan, Executive Director of Family Promise of Bergen County. “The kindness of the Wong and Ferolie families, in sponsoring this fabulous evening, will allow Family Promise of Bergen County and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to continue to provide vital services to families who are struggling to make ends meet.”About
