Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of County Commissioners urge residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane IDA to apply for Federal disaster relief. Over the weekend, the County of Bergen received a major disaster declaration from President Biden. The action releases Federal funding to those in Bergen County who sustained losses from September 1 to September 3 as a result of Hurricane Ida. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Bergen County residents and business owners can apply for disaster relief directly by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.
