Hitting goals, streamlining processes, and retaining talent are among the topics executive coach Doug Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Paradigm Associates, will discuss at upcoming presentations at two national conferences.
Attracting and Retaining Talent
Brown is presenting two 60-minute sessions on the topic of “Finding and Keeping People – Clues to Solve the Mystery” at the Mid-Atlantic Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (MAHPBA) Annual Conference & Exposition in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Monday, May 22.
“Competition for talent is fierce, even more than it was pre-pandemic,” Brown said. “For anyone trying to grow a business, attracting and retaining the right people is critical.”
In Part 1 of Brown’s presentation, participants will get a high-level look at the mindsets, considerations, and strategies others use so you can adopt and adjust them for your business.
Part 2 provides a deeper dive into the strategies and specific tactics and tools others use to entice, hire, communicate with, and retain valuable employees.
Brown addressed the Public Sector Human Resources Association (PSHRA) at its 2023 Eastern Region conference, hosted by the Connecticut chapter in Mystic on Monday, April 24.
It was the third time he presented for the national organization (formerly called IPMA-HR), having previously addressed both its Virginia and Mid-Atlantic conferences.
His 75-minute sessions were part of the organization’s 94th annual Eastern Region training forum “THRIVE in CT: Engage, Empower & Evolve.” The three-day event for public-sector HR professionals offers training, professional development, and networking.
Achieve Goals, Streamline Processes
Brown’s first session, “Achieve More Goals More Often,” went over the discernible differences that can mean success or failure when it comes to the goal achievement process.
“Goal setting is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, but not many individuals or organizations achieve what they plan,” Brown said. “Becoming aware of the barely perceptible differences can change that.”
In Brown’s second session, “Work Clean… and Decrease Your Stress,” he discussed how developing, following, and streamlining processes can bring about a higher level of effectiveness and efficiency.
“More time and less stress – who doesn’t want that? Effective leaders follow processes when carrying out responsibilities and undertaking new projects, not just on the job, but at home as well,” Brown said. “The result is more time to do the things you love.”
