On May 23, Felician University honored its 608 graduates from the Class of 2024 by holding a graduation ceremony at The Rink at American Dream. The ceremony marked the University’s 60th Commencement Exercise, as well as its third consecutive time holding the event at American Dream. The event was able to draw over 2,000 attendees.
The commencement address was delivered by Jacquelyn A. Suarez, Esq., the newly appointed Commissioner of New Jersey’s Department of Community Affairs (DCA). Suarez also received an honorary doctorate of humane letters. She was appointed last week, succeeding Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver. Suarez has served as the Acting Commissioner since September 2023, following the unfortunate passing of the Lt. Governor.
Commissioner Suarez spoke to the graduates about learning from their mistakes, looking for mentors and when working to make a difference, “knowing who you are, understanding what really matters to you, and setting goals that resonate with your spirit and soul should be the steady hum that lives in heart and mind.” Over 90% of Felician University students end up working in New Jersey, so the more workers there are with this type of mindset, the better off our state will be.
“The world eagerly awaits the gifts you have to offer, and I am confident you will meet its challenges with courage, conviction, and unwavering resolve”, said Felician University President Dr. Mildred A. Mihlon. “As you embark on your respective paths, let your character be your compass, guiding you through both triumphs and trials with grace and dignity.”
The Schools of Arts and Sciences, Businesses and Information Services, Education, and Nursing all awarded degrees to students. Additionally, seventeen doctorates in Counseling Psychology, Business Administration and Nursing Practice were earned. Degrees spanning over 60 majors and graduate programs throughout Felician University display the diverse education that the school offers.
