Who makes a steak worth $1,000? Find out at the Meadowlands Racetrack on Saturday, Sept. 9 when thousands of dollars in prizes are up for grabs at its first Steaks and Stakes night.
A Sanctioned Competition
Sanctioned by the Steak CookOff Association, the event fires-up with two steak competitions – Category A turns in the goods at 5 p.m. and B at 6:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 winners in each steak category, with two first prize winners walking away with $1,000 a piece.
Bacon & Margarita Smack-Down
In addition to the steak competitions, there is an Anything Bacon contest, and a Best Margarita competition. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top five winners in each contest.

Music, Brews, BBQ & Harness Racing
Stakes and Steaks at the Meadowlands Racetrack starts at 4 p.m. with DJ ALX and features $5 craft beer specials, BBQ including brisket, pulled pork, mac-n-cheese and more.
Also that night, live harness racing kicks off at 6:20 p.m., highlighted by the NJ Classic Series Finals for 2 and 3 year olds.
