Both matches that the teams from the Meadowlands played this week had no impact on their playoff implications, though they both had an opportunity to spoil their opponents. The Giants could heavily hurt the Colts’ playoffs odds, while a victory for the Jets would be just as sweet, since it is against a divisional opponent.
Jets Bested by Bills in 40-14 Game
Entering the game, the Jets looked to not get swept in the season series against the Bills, as they had been able to avoid over the past two seasons. However, the Bills were heavy favorites entering the game and it showed as they scored a touchdown on their first drive. The Jets defense held the offense in check for a majority of the first half, slowing down Josh Allen, an MVP-hopeful this season.
The offense, however, was struggling, with them throwing an interception followed by a safety on their next drive, giving the Bills a 9-0 lead as the second quarter winded down. The Bills scored a field goal before the half ended to give them a 12-0 lead entering halftime, though the Jets still had room to stage a comeback.
The offensive struggles continued for the Jets in the second half, as their first two drives consisted of a punt and an interception. The Bills offense began to find a rhythm, as Josh Allen turned into his MVP self, leading touchdown drive after touchdown drive. Before the fans knew it, it was 40-0 and the game had become far out of reach for the Jets.
The Jets, however, didn’t roll over and led two touchdown drives to close out the game to make it 40-14. Ultimately, Josh Allen and the Bills proved why they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league, with their win making it evident that the team has the opportunity to make it far this season.
Giants Upset Colts in 45-33 Win at MetLife Stadium
Entering their final game at MetLife Stadium for the 2024-25 season, the Giants were underdogs going into their matchup against the Colts, who were fighting for a spot in the playoffs. The Giants got off to a good start, collecting an interception on their first drive. However, the Colts were the first team to put points on the board, taking a 3-0 lead but the Giants quickly responded with a touchdown to take the lead.
The Giants offense didn’t stop there, as they scored two more touchdowns before the half came to an end, holding a 21-13 lead. In what would be their final appearance in East Rutherford for the season, the Giants were putting on a show for the fans in the crowd.
The Giants continued to impress, scoring another touchdown on their first drive of the half to give them a 28-13 lead. The Colts began to fight back, however, making it a 28-26 game. With both offenses clicking the teams were trading touchdowns back and forth, though the Giants had the advantage.
As the teams participated in the high-scoring battle, the Giants recorded an interception to all but seal the game. Now holding a 45-33 lead, the Giants shut down the Colts on offense to draw the game to a close and record the win.
