Football in the Meadowlands Week 8 Preview: Jets Travel to Face Cincinnati Bengals, Giants Look to Sweep Eagles in Season Series This Sunday

The Meadowlands is in store for another busy week of football, though MetLife Stadium will finally get a week to rest. Both teams will be playing on Sunday afternoon, traveling to their opponents as they search for a win. Last week saw close games for both teams, who will look to get the extra push needed to secure a victory.

New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Jets will be taking on the Bengals this Sunday, with star wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s return ‘hopeful’. His addition to the team could provide a big swing in the Jets’ favor with the playmaking that he brings. Also unanswered, is the future of the quarterback situation for the team, as Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor duke it out for the role of starting quarterback.

Last week, the Jets’ defense held the Carolina Panthers to 13 points, the second week in a row that their opponents scored that few points. The team will look to continue their impressive defensive play and take advantage of Wilson’s possible return to build momentum within the offense.

The Jets will be facing a familiar foe this week, as Joe Flacco will be starting for the Bengals, who was the Jets’ starting quarterback a few years prior. While they have not fared well against the Bengals in many of their recent matchups, the Jets took home a win against them just a few years ago in 2021. A key piece for the team this weekend will be incorporating their offensive stars, including Breece Hall, Mason Taylor and Garrett Wilson. The team will look to take down Flacco and the Bengals this Sunday.

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Just a few weeks ago, the Giants took down the Eagles on primetime football, making a statement to the league that their young core was a force to be reckoned with. Impressive performances from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who tallied three touchdowns, propelled the Giants to victory. This weekend, the team will look to repeat that success and take down their divisional rival.

The Giants will be travelling to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in their second meeting this season. The last time that the Giants swept the Eagles in the season series, winning both games was in 2007 and they have an opportunity to do that this weekend.

Dart and Skattebo will hope to put up another dominant performance against the Eagles, leading the Giants to a historic win. The team has continued to rely upon its young core and it will look to them for another victory this weekend.
