Former Giants’ Jersey Sensation Finds New Home on the East Coast

Quarterback Tommy DeVito was one of the NFL’s biggest stories when he debuted for the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL season. A NJ-born and bred player that fit all the Jersey Italian stereotypes that are so prevalent, was a recipe for a star in the Meadowlands.

His perfectly stereotypical agent, unique story and impressive performance to start his career propelled DeVito to the forefront of the media. DeVito grew up in Cedar Grove, New Jersey and infamously lived with his parents while he was still with the Giants. DeVito attended Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, where he perfected his craft at the position.

As an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse, DeVito had the choice of several NFL teams out of college, choosing to remain close to home and sign with the New York Giants. From that moment forward, the legend of “Tommy Cutlets” was born, one of the Meadowlands’ trendiest stars.

DeVito played two seasons with the Giants, but saw a significant hit to his numbers in his sophomore season. After the Giants did a total rehaul of their quarterback room in the past offseason, acquiring Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart, DeVito was left with harsh competition. There were simply too many players and not enough spots, which led to the Giants waiving DeVito on Aug. 26.

DeVito’s stint in the NFL is not yet finished, however, as the New England Patriots claimed him off waivers on Aug. 27. He is guaranteed a spot with the Patriots for the first three weeks of the season, which he hopes to transform into a career with the team.

While DeVito’s run in the Meadowlands has come to an end, he has the opportunity to continue his career in the NFL just a few states away. DeVito has had bright spots throughout his stint with the Giants, which he will hopefully build upon with his new team. The New York Giants will head into the 2025 NFL season with a fresh quarterback room, as both sides look to find success.
